March 6th:  Congratulations to Ghana and Ghanaians everywhere on the 50th anniversity of Ghana's independence!  Ghana led the independence movement throughout sub-Sahara Africa and remains today a example of  stability, democracy and hope throughout the continent.

For our October 2006 fundraiser, renowned sculptor Ed Dwight (http://www.eddwight.com)  created a special piece, called "Off to School," which he is offering to anyone making a $700 (seven hundred dollar) contribution to the Colorado-Ghana Children's Fund.  Measuring 11 inches tall (12" on pedestal), this beautiful bronze sculpture artistically illustrates the transition of a Ghanaian child, moving from the streets to school.  If you would like to obtain this sculpture (not a limited edition), you may order it by going to the "Make A Donation" button on the left or by contacting the Colorado-Ghana Children's Fund at 1820 Lee Street, Lakewood, CO 80215; tel: 303.202.1979; email: info@cgcfund.org.

2006/2007: A Big Year for Growth!

Thank you to all of you who have helped to make a difference in the lives of children like these during the 2006-2007 school year.  Due to your support, we now have 35 Ghanaian children enrolled in primary, junior high, and secondary schools, or in a technical skills training program--up from 22 children in 2006.  And, an especially big thanks to the Flahive Family Foundation for their encouragement and support in making this growth possible.

In June 2006, our first sponsored student graduated from secondary school, with three more students graduating in June 2007--a real milestone for our program, which has now begins its fifth year in September 2007.  Over that time, we have been blessed to see the change in the personalities of these children, as they gained self-esteem and confidence and as the opportunities for their futures have brightened.

Those graduating from secondary school now will have the chance to apply for and attend college, something they would not have dreamed possible while they were working on the streets, unable to continue their education.  Please join us to enable even more needy children in Ghana to move from the streets. . .to school . . .to success.  Thank you.
